The Juliana Valentine McCourt Children's Education Fund takes pride in selecting programs that are well structured and have proven results. Programs for 2002/2003 that were selected are the Mentoring USA "BRAVE Juliana" Program, and Operation Respect CT "Don't Laugh At Me!" |
| Initiatives
The United States Senate has named The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network the lead organization to coordinate local and national volunteer activities in memory of those killed. Unity in the Spirit of America (USA) Act. Co-authored by Senator Stabenow and Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) and co-sponsored by 16 additional Senators, the USA Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush on January 10, 2002 as an amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill. The Points of Light Foundation have been given the honor and responsibility of carrying out this national initiative, in order to help create a sense of healing and unity across the United States. Volunteer projects must be registered between June 1, 2002 and September 11, 2002, and largely completed by December 31, 2002. |
